The
Deapartament of Cusco is located located
in the South Eastern side of Peru, and
this departament has the jungle area and
the andean area, Cusco lies at 3300masl.
Its boundaries are Arequipa in the South
side, Puno South east, Apurimac in the
North side, Ayacucho in the norwest, Ucayali
in the noreast, and Madre de Dios in the
east side. It has an area of 76,329 square
kilometers, its capital city is Cusco.
It is well known as the archaeological
capital of America and the “navel
of the world” or sometimes the Imerial
City of Cusco
Access
Ways By Bus: Several roads
go to Cusco from important cities of Peru.
Starting in Lima, the most recommended
route is the South Panamericana until
Arequipa and then to Cusco (1,659 km or
28 hours trip aprox.). The other route
is through the highlands by Nazca and
Abancay.
By
Train: There is a daily train service
from Arequipa and from Juliaca (Puno). From Puno,
the trip is approx. 10 hours. The highest area
of this route is la Raya at 4,313 masl. between
Cusco and Juliaca. By Air. There are daily flights
to the Cusco city from Lima and other cities of
Peru, the flight takes 1 hour from Lima to Cusco
and there are other flights from Arequipa and
Puno. This towns has their own airport such as
for Arequipa is the Velasco Astete Aitrport 10
minutes from downtown arequipa by taxi, and Julica
Airport in Puno 30 minutes north side of Puno
by Taxi.
